I saw a review say this book was too positive & happy…not realistic but I find it rather dark when a 10/11 year old is constantly aware of what others think of his appearance & how easily he could slip into a dangerous state. It’s quite impressive that many ppl like August even in our reality can look at it with positivity after cruelty. This book is meant to teach empathy.
