I technically started this back in September/October maybe? with the audiobook. Then wanted to try it in print and it FINALLY came to me! I was not expecting it to take quite as long as it did since it said in transit/shipped for months and that I couldn’t cancel the request. I thought maybe it got lost honestly. But here it is. First time reading this series v listening.

“Garcia deactivated the central-locking system and got into his car.”
‘Garcia unlocked his car and got in’ would have worked just as well for me😂.
“Garcia unlocked the engine”
‘Garcia turned on the car’ would have made more sense to me. Do people talk/think in those phrases? I know this book is from a while ago, so maybe at that time people did?

Nothing to do with the book, but I noticed my library receipts have started saying: you saved $0.00 by borrowing from the Library! Like it’s a store or something. All of mine have said $0.00. My dad checked this book out with his card and it says he saved $71.00. How come he saves money but I don’t?! 😂😂. Jk. Wonder if it has to do with my books usually coming from other library systems?

The use of ain’t in print form still seems unnatural for the character that just used it. I was hoping I wouldn’t notice it as much reading v listening. 🤦🏼♀️. Oh well. Move along self.

‘A lot of inmates serving medium to long sentences had a similar appearance. It was a common trick to stop the system from having an accurate, recent picture of them. The long hair and the bushy beard would be gone within an hour of their release.’
How manipulatively sneaky. I had never thought of it in this way, but it makes a lot of sense, especially if one plans to commit more crimes when they get out.
