Current Chapter: Chapter One
Ugh, Ponyboy is adorable. It is neat seeing their perspective of both their life and thoughts about the social hierarchies at play regarding their neighborhood and the individuals they personally associate with.

Current Chapter: Chapter Three
I love the stories and the way the narrative weaves in the backstories and potential reasons for why each one of the characters behave in the way that they do. There is a subtle and welcome nuance to providing reasons, not justifications, for their behaviors. They act out, but there is a notion of why that is filtered through dear Ponyboy.

Already, a different character, and very evidently, a young one. I can see the earnest, if misplaced, insecurity in their very voice. The appeal of other’s appearances (noting that their neighborhood places little stock in their hair being cut), their envy of Paul Newman, it’s all the concerns of a young adolescent. I’m interested.
