‎مَن كان يَفخرُ أنَّ الغربَ فدونَهُ
فنحن فُدوتُنا عُثمانُ أو عُمرُ
أو كانَ يَفخرُ بالألحانِ يُنشِدُها
فنحن ألحانُنا الأنفالُ والزُّمَرُ

Whoever once boasted that the West was beneath him—
our exemplars are ʿUthmān or ʿUmar.
And if someone boasts of melodies he sings,
then our melodies are Al-Anfāl and Az-Zumar.
