In the matter of knowledge, it has happened to me as to one who rises early, and in the dark

Ayub Khan decided to put Islam in the service of his own election campaign and got 'ulama to give fatwas declaring that the election of Fatima Jinnah would be un-Islamic because a woman could not become the head of an Islamic state. Of course, the supreme irony was that the Jamii'at-i-Islami, reversing its previous stand on the issue of a woman becoming head of state, came out in support of Fatima Jinnah.

That inner drive which has been responsible for the maintenance and evolution of organic life must be responsible for the evolution of matter as well, so that matter too is a form of consciousness.

Naturally when you grant one attribute of consciousness to an entity you cannot resist the conclusion that it must have all the attributes with which consciousness is associated in our own knowledge.
