I’m sorry but if Miriam truly cares for Angel like a sister, she wouldn’t be entertaining thoughts and feelings of being with Michael. Ofc ppl make mistakes, but she knows what she's doing, she’s said it to Angel’s face, and yet she continues to pursue Michael while he’s married to the woman she claims she loves a sister. If nothing else, Elizabeth should say something to her. This isn’t right

Paul talks all about her not being worthy of Michael because she was a prostitute but he’s failing to look at the log in his own eye and fix the hate that’s in his own heart. And that he committed fornication and adultery too (¬⤙¬ )

Now after pointing out a fictional character’s sins I feel the need to take a look at the log in MY OWN eye (╥﹏╥)

The fact that both of the protagonists have struggles they need to bring before God is so refreshing. Angel isn’t perfect, but neither is Michael and I love that Rivers doesn’t hide the scary thoughts that pass through his mind. This book is carefully ripping my heart to pieces it’s so heartbreakingly beautiful

His hands were so gentle. He took such care. When her feet were clean, he kneaded her aching calves. He cast the dirty water outside and poured more, setting the pan in her lap. He took her hands and washed them as well. He kissed her stained, scratched palms and worked salve in. Then he wrapped them with warm bandages.

All this after she ran from him, rebuked, and hit him. My heart is aching y’all 🥺

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I like that Rivers doesn’t shy away from tough topics like these, because, even though it’s horrible, Christians can’t turn a blind eye to the evil of this world. It’s best to show how awful this world is and show hope and redemption through Jesus. Which is ultimately my goal for writing my own books. Rivers will most certainly be an inspiration for my writing
