The Hound, The Lurking Fear
I somehow had zero recollection of the latter story, so when I predicted the twist I thought "oh please don't be that, it'd be so lame". It was that. Though admittedly it was executed better than I thought it'd be. Pretty disturbing when you think about the implications ngl.

Hypnos, What the Moon Brings, Azathoth
Holy shit the narrator in Hypnos is gay asf (very fair). Interesting that we've had two stories about sculptors and they're both like that, was Lovecraft trying to say that sculpting is gay?
Idk what to say about the prose poems except that I love them, please read them
The blurb before Azathoth spoils one of the novels further back which I'm yet to read, thanks editor =_=

Herbert West - Reanimator
It was alright, a bit better than I remembered, but I never particularly cared for this one and I still don't. "Mad scientist tries to defeat death and finds out why it's a bad idea" is a rather tired trope, is it not?

The Moon-Bog, The Outsider, The Other Gods, The Music of Erich Zann
It just now hit me that The Outsider is kind of The Tomb in reverse... Also, I will forever love the Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones version of the character ;3;

Sweet Ermengarde, The Nameless City, The Quest of Iranon
Ok this one is legitimately funny XDD Lovecraft's sense of humour doesn't often shine through, but it's pretty good!
Lovecraft's "indescribable" begins to read to me as the creepypasta writer's "hyperrealistic"
Truly, the Dream Cycle is just depression, depression, and more depression...

The Picture in the House, Ex Oblivione
Stories like Ex Oblivione and Celephaïs exhibit exactly the kind of thinking and I feeling I used to have when my depression was at its deepest. Those tales were so comforting back then...

Facts Concerning the Late Arthur Jermyn and His Family, Celephaïs, From Beyond, Nyarlathotep
Grandpappy shags a monke, that's it that's the story
Nyarlathotep is the first properly weird tale here, and a proper cosmic horror - I love it so much <33

POLAND MENTIONED [polska_gurom.gif]
I conclude that you cannot write a story set in ancient Greece and not have gay undertones in it, it's simply not scientifically possible.
The one thing Lovecraft and I can shake on is what should happen to people who abuse animals. Karma!
Karl = Stroheim lol, funniest protag so far

The Street, The Doom That Came to Sarnath
He just can't bloody help himself, can he? He has to throw something xenophobic into every tale or he's going to explode. The first time around it made me laugh with how blatant and stupid it was, but now I'm just sick of it. Over 1000 pages left btw
I've always headcanoned Bokrug as a Mosasaurus and I'm dying on that hill

The Transition of Juan Romero, The White Ship
Lovecraft borrows another existing deity into his mythos, but while everyone knows Dagon, Huitzilopotchli tends to go forgotten... Probably because it's harder to spell.
The White Ship always reminded me of The Neverending Story, I gotta re-read that again sometime (fav childhood book fr)
(Note to self: play Sona-Nyl of the Violet Shadows already)

Old Bugs
Painfully preachy in its moralism, that one, but that's precisely what it was meant to be, so good job ig?
