When I am having a difficult time with a book, I look at 1 and 2 star rating reviews so I can see if their reasons for rating it thus have already been encountered by myself, in other words the fact that I have considered abandoning it more than once since starting it means that I should persevere or just throw in the towel. With the last book I finished, the pessimists gave me something to keep going to the end
