Should I read it?

Yes, I think so, though Oh Pioneers lacks one of the book's cringey elements.
This one is far happier, though.
I can see why, once New Dealers were running teachers' colleges, they started pushing their students to drop her from reading lists, but her stories tell about that vast, skipped middle of American history from the Civil War until WWI when the USA really, REALLY came into it's own.
