This man is the most arrogant insane person ever!! No, like, srsly doing all of this for what?? The second she truly learns how to get in and out of the Avatar state perfectly, he's an absolute dead man. With everything he does, he's just making his death all the more terrifying.

That was all anyone in this world did. What they saw their predecessors and teachers do. The Avatar was not the only being who was part of an unbroken chain.

I love this line but it's never an excuse either
