could the author not have come up with a better explanation if she wanted to have em constantly fight monsters cuz she loves that apparently

the entire middle of the book just follows the same format:
- they travel to a new city
- they get in imminent danger
- they meet someone who saves them
- that person gives them food and information that definitely wont be used later and tells them what town to travel to next

and whyre they following only monster stories are those not the most dangerous ones to follow??

how do they know that the storyteller even wrote the stories in chronological order? how do they know that the storyteller traveled in a straight path to the shadows? what if they did side quests?

this entire quest is so stupid

also their quest makes no fuckin sense???? did the author just want to show off her world building and monster making skills?? all they do is chase down adn fight monsters for no reason?? cuz how TF do they know that following the storytellers path would be the shortest way? how did they know that the path would take less than a week?? a storyteller prolly took the longer route cuz they wanted to tell stories??
