I'm sure I remember this from book 1, but the writing is SO repetitive, it's pissing me off actually. Also not a fan of how the future is conveniently barking orders at Raya like that whole tavern scene was some sort of quick-time event, but I'll allow it because i remember it took me a hot minute to start liking the first book too

I can't cope with the absolutely abysmal pacing, the unrealistic way the characters are thinking, the cringey dialogue, the extremely convenient plot, and the REPETITION. The concept is good but the execution is so disappointing

Also, what the hell possessed Raya to think "yes, I am frail student with passive magic am going to chase after people who i think deserve to die for the crime of being born, very evil people who will steal my magic, but it will be fine"?? Then she is like somehow appalled that they did in fact steal her magic, has the gall to feel betrayed by someone she wishes death upon, and is now extremely over it after an hour?

The pacing? Whack. The idea that I am supposed to believe Ezzo is gonna fall for Raya even though the book is already half over, they still don't like each other at all, and his girlfriend like JUST died?? Insane. But it is interesting to see a character we already know through the eyes of someone who doesn't like him or see him the way we do.
