The opening scene captures the viewpoint of a serial killer to perfection. The ultimate deep mind dive into the mind of a certain breed.
To completely convey a character's being, essence, the writing must be from that character's mind in every way. A serial killer must kill. What excites him or her is their obsessions, their desires, their paraphilias.
