Like….I vaguely remember how the book ends, but the anxiety every time soldiers come into scene makes my heart skip.

The necklace and the photographs. Another recollection.

I hadn’t forgotten about the shoes after so many years, but reading this chapter the memories flooded back and I could vaguely recall what was going to come next.
