The horror in this book is not sensationalized as it seems from very real events, terrifying to behold as a reader, some 40+ years after the event. Tempered sorrow cuts into the horror, giving it form, allowing us to follow our narrators along a blood stained path.
The jump in perspective at the start this chapter stole the oxygen from the room I was sitting in for the first few pages as I followed along.
