A thematically relevant book that was written in 1968 . . . sigh. But seriously, had no idea Crichton's first published novel (under his own name) was about a doctor getting arrested for murder bc everyone knows he secretly performs abortions.

I think this is actually the book that radicalized me. I didn’t realize he performed abortions, but it does make sense.

The synopsis tries to be all coy about it, which is annoying. It won the Edgar Award!
