I have been assured the other Strange New Worlds novels are excellent, but this one is super mediocre.

This is the pivotal moment in the book, and M.L. Wang did such a good job portraying the psychological realism of what both people would be feeling and thinking.

This is 1000 times more infuriating on re-read.

Xander is a controlling dickhead, I knew it.

The beginning of this book is horrifying on reread, and I’m not even talking about the opening chapter with Thomil.

I'm pretty impressed with this book. Trying out a new thriller author can be dodgy but I think this is really well done.

In case you couldn't tell from my slow pace and lack of enthusiastic updates, I'm not really enjoying this one.

Even when I am allergic to romance, Cat Sebastian does it for me. Her characters are just so good, and there is so much emotional substance.

This is a five star book.

This was slower to really engage me than Sanderson's books normally are, but about the halfway point I started to see where he was going with it, and now I'm really into it.

I actually think this is handling the anti-colonial, anti-fascist/imperialist angle really well.

Ugh the Scadrians (specifically the Malwish) suck SO HARD.

Head swimming with Cosmere stuff, think I have to ignore all the implications for an eventual re-read.

I love her writing style. It's so deceptively simple, but very compelling.
