This is a really fast read, and really absorbing. Claire Danes is a good narrator, also!

It's unlike this author to wait so late in the game to identify the time period, and all we get is that it's Edwardian, so anytime between 1901 and 1914. I do think I like her independently published stuff a bit more than her trad pub stuff.

FYI, this is a gothic historical first, romance second. I've seen a couple reviews complaining about the romance not being a bigger part of the book, but that's by design. It's an unfair complaint.

This is already super weird.

So far we’ve got Judy Greer and Nathan Fillion on the audiobook. I could look up who else is in this cast but I think I will leave it to be a surprise.

The only reason I stopped reading this last night was because I had to go to bed.

This honestly is not terrible, certainly not as bad as some of the reviews would have you believe, and now things are ramping up for the conclusion. I've heard the ending is wild, and I'm excited about it.

There's finally an Ashley in a Stephen King book, and it's a dude? Unacceptable.
