William and Les [Charles] were going camping and his sister Kara and her roommate Lucy [Louisa] invited themselves to tag along. Camping in the same rural area was Beth and Jenna. When a storm created a landslide, the ranger advised that their exit was blocked and they would be stuck there for a few days. Kara and Lucy, helpless and useless, gripped and complained the whole time.

Oh Lindy (Lydia) what have you done? Beth's parents call to say Lindy had been in an accident, was in the hospital and in a coma. There were fatalities in the other vehicle.

We are closely following the Austen outline. Beth and William argue, separate, a letter of explanation is sent [but not by who you think], Kara tries to embarrass Beth by mentioning [Wickham's] Jaxon's name. See...this mixed up names is driving me crazy and I didn't have far to go.

The names are changed somewhat. Beth Pride [Elizabeth] and William Darcy are the main characters. Everyone else has a name similar but still off enough to be confusing at times. This is a college age group and they are dealing with school, classes, dating, dances, group activities, and their frustrations. Jenna [Jane] has sprained her ankle and Beth is helping take care of her.

The prologue to this story reminds me of the opening scene to the 2007 BBC Sense and Sensibility. It is the seduction scene. Not graphic, not explicit, not even sensual, just the hazy [drug or alcohol induced] thoughts of the victim not completely aware that they are in danger...and then the camera fades to black.
