At first, I felt like there were too many new things/characters being introduced and that the story was getting muddied. I’m still a little annoyed that it felt like the other two books were “just set up” but I did really enjoy the first book and the pacing for this book is perfect which would’ve been impossible without the first two. Pullman has been weaving together a MAGNIFICENT tapestry!!

I’ve officially been sucked back in. The world building in these books is just incredible. I wish there was more time to appreciate the world, but the plot moves so quickly that sometimes I don’t register things until a couple pages after I’ve read them. The format is a little different than the previous books, but it’s keeping things interesting.

I’m already enjoying this much more than book two. Even though everyone is spread across the worlds and there are more questions than answers, it really feels like we’re finally getting to the core of everything. I feel awful for Lyra and Will though- they’re just kids but they’ve gone through so much. And so far it has only gotten harder and worse.
