I'm not sure I quite understand the way this is structured. So we have multiple "books", with several parts in each book, and then chapters in each part which are numbered with roman numerals, and then each chapter has numbered... sections? Subchapters? I'm not clear on the purpose of the numbered subchapters.
It's a little hard to keep track of all the levels of numbering.

Maybe the prose is a little *too* purple. "Sat with the ruins of his gluttony" is a bit much just for eating an egg sandwich, no? Also there are some parts where the phrasing affects the clarity of the sentence, e.g. the "Though in her early adulthood..." line on page 29.
