okay, I thought all the curses were broken in Lightlark? what is Nexus, the curse that bounds people to their rulers, and why wasn't that broken? bc wasn't the whole thing that Lightlark was dying because the king was dying, which meant the death of the people on Lightlark, but since the curses were broken he was no longer dying so his people were free and the island was saved? I'm so confused.

wait, in the previous two books, it was clarified that nightbane was a dangerous drug that shouldn't be used, because it killed people by making them too happy and unable to feel pain or whatever — now it's used in medicine and is necessary for saving the realms? is aster backtracking on her first two books? im very confused.
