As an aspiring English professor, from the first chapter I knew that this book will be added to the list of books I one day assign. Genuinely, one of the best books I’ve ever read and I’m not even done. This book is exactly what I needed to kick off this year. I reminds me a lot of Educated by Tara Westover, except it’s gotten half of the reception, which is truly criminal. This book deserves all the accolades. Genuinely so many lines from this book that will stick with me for life. This is a landmark piece of creative nonfiction that deserves the highest recognitions and is genuinely impossible to put down. The only reason I haven’t finished it is because I’m trying to savor it before I’m done.
