I think the author was very clever when making the antagonist one of the two main characters whose points of view are switched back and forth. That way you (sadly) really get to know this psychopath. Like, I look forward to parts of the text where this power-abusing asshole isn't in it. It actually makes me excited about the Aliens escaping, And if that was the goal of the author, I'd say they did a damn good job.
