they call performative the way I defend all these women /j
the way Greek mythology canon is mainly constructed by male writers, I can’t help but think of all the ways Helen is used as a device in the narrative; she reminds me of the way Stockholm syndrome isn’t even a real thing — Helen *as a person* and as a women is lost to us because she was written by men for men like ugh 😔😔

I actually don’t care, I’m a hardcore Hera defender til the day I die BECAUSE ZEUS IS AN ABUSIVE CHEATING FUCK AND IF HE’S ALLOWED TO HAVE FLAWS, SO CAN SHE.
should she be taking out her anger on the women her husband continues to bed? no. BUT HER ACTIONS ARE CREATED FOR MALE ENTERTAINMENT BY MALE ENTERTAINERS AT THE EXPENSE OF FEMALE VESSELS SO I DON’T GAF 🤬🤬🤬

reading for a class, really love the informative introductions so far, especially because my only prior experience with Homer’s work is Emily Wilson’s translation of The Odyssey (which I will be reading again for the same class, yippee!!; major bummer I won’t be reading her Iliad translation for this class though 😔 that’ll be on my own time)
