i was curious how Keane would go about making Mary relatable-- how she could make the reader understand Mary's insistence on returning to her work after she'd made so many people sick-- but she's doing a great job. the idea of an asymptomatic carrier was crazy for its time, pure fantasy, so Mary feeling persecuted and determined to prove her innocence seems totally reasonable.
