I was really hopeful for this but damn. It sucks. The romance is rushed and feels forced, the writing is on par with YA, the language and tone is just wild and changes on a dime, the characters motivations make no sense, the entire magic plotline is basically set dressing and adds nothing, I could go on

I’m seeing many ‘adult debuts’ from YA authors where the book still reads as YA. It’s disappointing and feels misleading.
