Soo.. I like this book again. Even if the last chapter + the one I just read was unnecessarily traumatizing. I feel like there is a way to show and tell how horrible things happen in a way that is not graphic and uncaringly blunt and triggering. I know the intention isn’t to glorify it, but it’s just too much to slop into the book over and over. I can’t STAND it!!! It’s so fucking infuriating for me, bec

UM. THE WAY I PHYSICALLY SCREAMED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAPTAIN KENNIT IS OFF IS ROCKER!!!! WINTROW FATHERING THE CHILD?!!?!?!?!??!?!!?,!!,!,!,!
Yeah I hate him. Thoroughly. If he actually does that to him, I will utterly destroy this book. Robin Hobb will have taken it too far. For real. Like bro— WINTROW!!!??? With ETTA?!?!!, I’m literally losing my mind.

Ugh. I love this SO much better than Ship of Magic. Idk man I almost missed a great story because the beginning was full of lurches and wild bumps and awkward stops and blah blah blah. Not a great beginning. But a damn good middle is all I’m saying and HOPEFULLY!!!!!!!!!!! A GREAT ending.

So Captain Kennit…. I can’t decide if I like or hate him. He’s an incredibly wicked but also dynamic character, doing more good than he knows or completely understands himself, but then turns and shows complete ruthlessness to a point I can’t understand or approve of. All I can say is that he needs help. And MAJOR character development. Hopefully it will strap itself to him like his dang crutch.

I was JUST starting to like Kennit but this fool is trying to revert back already. If he doesn’t get some major help, I might quit these books. Also— if he touches Wintrow ONCE, I will lose everything and jump into the book and kill him. Goodbye. It’s getting too suspicious how he describes him. I will be so disappointed in Robin Hobb if she truly allows it. Ugh. Anyway. Still enjoying ofc.

How I love the Fool. It’s interesting to see him as Amber but I miss him as the Fool too. Besides that, I still truly am enjoying this book. It’s definitely somehow gotten 1000x better. Maybe I’m more invested in the characters now, but I have no clue how that happened when I walked away from the first book feeling like they were chaff in my soul. (Most of them). Anyway. Onwards~

Yeah I’m losing words. I was gonna say that I really liked discovering that the liveships are DRAGONS??!! But…. Hm. I really needed that tangent. I’m honestly a little disappointed in Robin Hobb. Yes, Serilla needed to get a way and even needed to growna backbone a little, but I just think writing that in was completely unnecessary. Lots of things she’s been writing in this book has been completely unnecessary. Especially so many of this stupid Captain Kennit scenes, I just can’t. Without all the filth and gore and oversexualization of every stupid fucking thing, this book would be near five stars for me. She’s a great story teller, but the Liveship series has just been one big stupid disappointment. I hate it. And I’ve never really hated a book outside of Outlander. She literally has created the most unlikable cast of characters I have maybe ever known. Which is shocking compared to how much I would die for Fitz, Night Eyes and the Fool. At times, I was so upset and annoyed at some of the main Farseer characters too but… damn, at least they had their redeeming qualities and moments. With Liveship, just no. They’re all sickening and borish and infuriating. They lack almost any likeability at all, save for the Fool (ofc), and Ronica Vestrit. Like my GOD!!! TWO side characters that show up maybe every 100 pages. Lord. And Wintrow is fine, but this man is deluded too. A little annoying, even still. After two freaking 600 page books. Lordddd. !! Waste of time and that’s what makes me mad. I thought I was embarking on some of the best books in the series, but no. Just garbage.
