Imagine a teenager, picking up a sci fi rubiks cube saying "have you ever been down a mine" then humming for a few minutes whilst playing with it. And then everyone is like "fuck me yeah he should be the one to overthrow the government."

It’s gets so much better in the later books. I adored book 3!

I've seen a bunch of people say it gets better as it gets on, but this start has been a struggle
