Whoah. Albert figured it out. He has the first half of the puzzle solved. He PERFECTLY pieced together what the count has done and how he has played his Parisian friends to act against eachother (page 969). Now he is to confront the count.

WHOAH! THATS WHY WERE FOCUSING ON VILLEFORT! Andrea, after being told his father’s name, is content. No more worries in the world, as he said, he could not care less as long as he knew his father’s name. So now he’s brought shame to Villefort, who will return home to no family, all poisoned by his wife, and who will have poisoned herself and no honour, since he buried a child. Villefort buddy, you’re cooked.

Mme de Villefort has been condemned to die by Villefort! He told her to off herself or he would get her arrested, pick your poison (no pun intended). I’m gonna be honest I don’t understand the whole emphasis on Villefort atm. Yeah he’s going through it, yeah he’s burning himself out to forget the murder, soo…

Oh Andrea you sweet summer child. The count does not await you, for he is not your father. Your rapture does.

Well Count, you reap what you sow. Mercedes is returning to Marseille and Albert is flying to the conquests of Africa. Mme Danglars is unhappy because she has nothing (apart from the 1 and a half Ms). Mercedes and Albert are happy because they have nothing. The duality.

MORREL! The Count, anxious of what Morrel may do, visited him as he was preparing to kill himself. The count told him the truth. He is Edmond Dantes, he is the man who saved his father’s life, and he does not want his son to go out the same way, 10 years to the day later. Beautiful. The Count and Morrel are now set to leave Paris for a month, and the count has promised Morrel his happiness back.

Danglars is now fleeing because he owes 5m’s to a charity. Disgraceful. It’s also because he gave his last 5 millions to the count!

Valentine and Morrel were easily one of my favourite plots in this book. I REALLY bought the counts dialogue of saviour. I guess I would be dead now too. It turns out he still has unused hate in his heart, even for the sweetest and gentlest of souls such as valentine. He has sworn revenge against her killer, and has gone out to find them.

VALENTINE IS DEAD! THE COMTE DE MONTE CRISTO, SINBAD THE SAILOR, LORD WILMORE, AND ABBE BUSONI HAVE JUST DROPPED THE MOST INSANE DEATH. It appears that Monte Cristo poisoned the young woman. So much for saving her like what the fuck??? This is a couple that never engaged in trickery, never did anything wrong, and loved naturally as a beautiful young couple. This was the biggest shock I’ve read in a while. (1/2)

Alas! We have now discovered Mme de Villefort was poisoning the family in an effort to get money for her son. Evil mf. Anyways, the count saved her. Monte Cristo is now having a come to Jesus moment. He’s now doing what he can to save the children of the people he hates, who are lovely. I’m glad he’s decided to only go for his sworn enemies and not the good doing family members.
