mr. lawrence, thank you for being that one sensible person in the room, defending helen's right to her own opinion—the others should know better than to shame a woman for sticking to her own morals. gossip may be cute until you literally shame the other person without knowing anything about them. and gilbert is still sulking about helen (what's new) and still clings to that fleeting flirt with eliza.
