Still enjoying this but every once in a while hit the usual stumbling block I come upon while reading any sort of artistic analysis not written by the artist; the assumption the author knows what the artist was feeling without any direct quote or statement from the artist.

“Paul needed John to trust in him-he wanted to get through to John…John wanted an acknowledgement of love, etc”

Having fun listening to the songs that influenced John and Paul while I read. It helps you see (or rather hear?) the threads that connect the doo-wop and girl group songs to theirs.
