This was a lot of fun. I loved how Kuku balances introspection with momentum in these stories. Though things get steamy as you move through them, the realism is what really stands out.
The real win is how Kuku takes on global relational dynamics while zooming in on Nigerian culture, using satire as a microscope.
It’s smart, observant, and fearless without losing its sense of play. 😍

I love how short and sweet these stories are. Filled with humor, tension and sarcasm.
I thought ‘Òdè-Pus Complex’ was going to be the happy ending I was waiting for here - but boy was I wrong 🤣 Kuku pulled that subtle twist at the end. So good!

I adore authors who clearly enjoy themselves on the page. You can tell Kuku is having a blast with these stories - the wordplay in ‘International Relations’ is unmatched.
I love how she just says the damn thing. No beating around the bush. Her style is technically lean. She doesn’t start with much, but she gives you exactly what’s needed as you move through the story (‘The Anointed Wife’). 😍

Kuku’s humor and realism is unmatched. 🔥
These characters are so unpredictable and almost now.
The first two stories (Cuck-Up & The Gigolo from Isale-Eko) haven’t exposed any madness I haven’t heard of yet.
I hope this gets crazier 🤣😍
I am reading this alongside Joyce’s Dubliners. Worlds apart. I’m here for the contrast in approach.
