Things are meandersome, but the world is fascinating and the prose is just so delightful - brusque and lyrical in turn - that I am extremely happy to just go along for the ride!

I didn't have this on my list and I wouldn't necessarily have picked it up by myself, but my local bookstore has a fantasy bookclub and that sounds like fun, so here I go, 770 pages of chonk...
