A very good balance of interpersonal friction and background information. Maybe it says something about me that I haven't been even slightly curious about what any of these rich people looked like, but immediately went on the hunt for images of their Newport manses.

You don't have to use cute flippant asides and short chapters to keep my attention. The result is almost the opposite, actually. There's enough else going on here that I'm willing to stick with it.
