This chapter pissed me the f off.. Saeris' quickly losing ranks in my fave FMC book. Rapidly joining Feyre with her dumbass decisions. Thank God Edina foresaw she'd be a dimwit.
This chapter also proved something I've dreaded too : when given a task, Saeris does NOT proactively work towards it. Instead she waits until it's been given directly in her hands like a hot loaf straight out of the oven. Infuriating

A thought occurred to me. Maybe Stella Bloom's narration is actually the reason I've been so irritated by Saeris. Or maybe it's a combination of both this and her actions. But gods, there's a not so fine line between a strong character and a whiney petulant one. And I can't exactly pinpoint what makes Saeris' into the 2nd

Am I insensitive for thinking loudly that Saeris completely forgot about Hayden and made her peace about not being to see him again ? 😂 In book 1 i could understand because of the oath bound, but now it seems her objective took another turn 😂

Btw why does Saeris keep saying "frisson"? It's way too out of place to be using french words in a fantasy world that speaks 'commonly' common Fae. One, because it has no place in it, and two, because it gives off a bougie, haughty vibe, which not only clashes with Saeris' personality, but also with her background 🤨

It's annoying because you'd think that a MC from a fantasy novel would break her back to attain whatever objective is thrown on their way. In this case, Saeris barely even remembers her brother it seems until Fisher goes fetching for him for her. His freaking dead mother speaks out of his sister's mouth from her sick bed to give her a task and instead of taking it seriously, we have to wait as readers until it's been magically thrown into her hands in, probably, a very auspicious and timely manner. Then she proceeds to absolutely not give a fuck about the most powerful's Oracle's words (Edina, Fisher's mother) and just proceeds to do exactly the opposite of what's been asked of her. Nahhhhh. She's been so fucking annoying this book, I'm so pissed. WTF happened to her. Not only did she just gain a major power boost right from the beginning of this book (ch1), making her absolutely too OP, but she also has an insane political standing already. But she does nothing with it. The story does not match her sudden character boost in the slightest and her brain, by the looks of it, have been smashed to nothingness in the process.

There's also too much smut. Or maybe it's just misplaced and makes it look like it. Either way, I suppose that's entirely a personal preference. I wish Saeris would think less about fucking every chance she gets and starts doing something. Idk. "Oh but she got her alchemist shield activated now" Don't care, the Quicksilver did that for her 😒
