I think Mr Roth lost me a bit during this 2nd part. Maybe not "lost me" - more like wore me down.

Its dense, brutal and a bit funny in parts.,

I love the humour here - it's not a comedy, but some of Roth's languid descriptions can be very, very funny.

Amazing writing. Love it.
