I think Mr Roth lost me a bit during this 2nd part. Maybe not "lost me" - more like wore me down.
Sitting at around 3.5 stars currently.

I love the humour here - it's not a comedy, but some of Roth's languid descriptions can be very, very funny.

Roth's turgid writing in this alleged "masterpiece" wore me down years ago, mate, a bit earlier than 68%, too :).

This book comes and goes on my radar over the years but I've never read it. I look forward to your review.

Hey mate - thing is though, I experience these period of turgidity, then there's a long passage of something that has me totally rivetted. It's a tough, gut-wrenching read to be sure. I will finish it - but enjoy it (all) - not so sure.
Hope all is well with you back in OZ mate - it's been hot there I see. It's warm here in Mexico, and it's supposed to be winter!! Like bollox 😬🤓. Hope you're well mate :))
