I didn’t expect culture to be a big part of this book, but it is and I think it’s a wonderful aspect to share with my children! From Chinatown to Italian operas to the subway station, so much diversity of characters, setting and lessons. This book has been a hidden gem on our shelf and I’m so glad I’ve uncovered it.

This last chapter shared the story of the first cricket. An ancient Chinese fable. I have no idea if the author made it up or not, but it was beautiful!
