*Spoilers in Comments* not good. A very convoluted and unimpressive book essentially describing the members of a certain town in England the main character was insufferable, although the story did have some fun elements. The writing, however, was not very impressive. And the ending was borderline comical overall would not recommend.

Lena As mentioned before, the story covered a small town in England, that is Beachside, where a new very fancy hotel opened up and what used to be a family‘s manner. Essentially many years ago, all of the same players that are in the hotel grew up in the same city. Francesca is the granddaughter of the person that owned the manner, and she’s a spoiled rotten and very annoying main character. Essentially, what happened is that in her youth? She was even more spoiled and insufferable, and she ended up killing a member of the community by spiking her brownies with poisonous mushrooms. The girl ended up passing away. Her friend at the time was nicknamed sparrow, and she was there with her boyfriend Jake when the murder happened. Francesca told her grandpa about this killing and he basically pinned it on the two of them. And he paid them off $3000 not to say anything.

Lena The person that passed away, his name is Cora, and the name of her son was shrimp. Shrimp was the son of Cora and the local fisherman who would bring fish into the local fish and chip shop. It turns out that shrimp’s real name is Owen, and he grew up to Mary Francesca because he didn’t really know who she was it turns out that she’s the one that killed his mom, Cora.

Lena Francesca opened this really bougie new manner where her family home used to be, and sparrow, nickname, Becca, came to essentially expose what Francesca had done. It’s also very important to note that a common theme throughout this book is the birds. The birds are basically an organization and myth in this particular town, and they’re known to exact revenge on people who basically mess with them and do bad things.

Lena Again, this is a very convoluted story, and what ends up happening at the end is Owen discovers that Francesca is the one that killed his mom. Becca was trying to expose Francesca, but Francesca beat her on the head with something pulled from the shelves, and ended up, knocking her out and tried to escape because Becca is the one that knew that Francesca had poison Cora. It turns out that after the incident happened many years ago Jake turned to alcohol and drugs to cope with what he had experienced, and he ends up, disappearing from the town and cutting all contact off with his family, including his younger brother. It turns out, though that Jake had become a cold case investigator and had come back to basically find a way to indict Francesca for what she’s done. Basically, after beating Becca on the head and knocking her unconscious, Francesca runs off in the Aston Martin, but there’s so many people angry with her for what she has done because that basically the entire town knew that she was guilty at her family was awful. Owen tries to run after her, but he couldn’t catch up with her, but Jake’s younger brother was able to stop her by pretending to be one of the birds and she basically drives off a cliff. She ends up dying. Her husband, Owen ends up, inheriting everything because he was married to her, and he ends up, turning the manner into a community property for everyone to enjoy. Becca goes back to her daughter and is able to look her in the eye, knowing that she had basically confirmed the fact that Francesca had killed Cora. Unfortunately, however, Jake’s younger brother ends up mentally scarred by the fact that he had basically helped in killing Francesca by driving her off the cliff. He ends up discovering that his mom is one of the birds. Very odd story not a huge fan.
