Maybe Steinbeck, that's just you?

I just love how Steinbeck writes, but I can't really imagine where this book is going story-wise. "Grapes of Wrath" had a very distinct historical setting, the great dust bowl, but here I'm not so sure.

I started this once before but it was honestly a too huge book to lend from the library - I'm expecting this will at least take me a month to read.


I love how Steinbeck describes things. Almost makes you nostalgic for a time before technology and cities and death of all things natural. In Austria you can't even go hiking without hearing a car somewhere in the distance.
