Alright…this is not adult fiction like I initially thought. It’s firmly a YA “not like other girls” story but with a male MC. I’m also tired of schools.

The writing is still good and I keep hoping something happens. The world is fascinating, but the players are all pretty flat and experts in something.

The writing is great and it’s interesting but it’s pretty slow so far.

Not DNFing but putting this off for another day. I’m very intrigued by what I’d describe as a fantasy/scifi Ancient Rome-inspired world (haven’t seen the dark academia yet, and the concept of Will (aka human battery) is a very common scifi concept), but this is a CHONKER and I have less than 2 weeks before I need to return the book and other holds to read in that same time limit. I will revisit later!
