So they’ve tried to take in the palace by Mare manipulating Cal.
For fcks sake the anger I just felt towards Mare with her “choose me”. Cal wants equality but doesn’t act, whilst Mare acts too much too reckless. Both of their arguments were good. In the end, I must confess, I was glad Cal did not fall for it and made his own decision.

Besides Maven being aware of them- Poor Cal. Their plan to make him choose between the crown and Mare is evilll. Necessary, but evil.
I feel like Cal just gets hit and hit and hit with one trauma after another.

Okay real quick- Maven is cute but the TENSION with Cal... take the L.
Also why tf is Maven aware of Cal and Mares feelings for each other? I mean- when did you find out and why does it not bother you the smallest? Are you telling me you're willingly in a love triangle with your brother?? Maveyyy

So… the scarlet guard now has planned to kill some silvers for the course. Somehow a bomb went off and no one knew. Then they got arrested and Mare broke them out.
Technically a happy ending but I can’t help but think about all the bad that’s coming.
Protect Julian at all costs.
Also, right now, I can’t understand why I used to be team maven.

Ohhh Mare has a weird feeling in her stomach when she sees Evangeline next to Cal… how could I be so blind? I was so focused on Maven when he joined the Guard that I completely missed the relationship between Cal and Mare.
It’s so obvious they have tension omg. The way their eyes CONSTANTLY meet.

Mare definitely acts like a hypocrite. The hate and the prejudices she holds against the silvers are similar to those silvers hold about reds. She joins the Scarlet Guard, knowing its risks, but shames Kiloran for doing the same??

Obviously I know what Maven does in the end, yet I find it so interesting to observe how I still don’t hate him.
I used to be a total team Maven when I first read this. I get it. Mare is currently forced into the role of Mareen Titanos, a silver princess. And whilst it is clear that Cal cares a lot more about her, Maven is the one who understands her. I feel so sorry, knowing what Elara must be doing to him rn.

How on hells earth was I SO convinced that Cal was blonde? I mean I always liked Cal butttt the dark hair is a big pro.
That was one re read notice. Another one is that Mares powers didn’t appear in the rink, but at the stilts when she was fixing the tool box. After she met Cal for the first time.

It blows my mind how much I’ve already forgotten about this book. I think I read it at the beginning of 2022 for the first time.
Damn it’s been 4 years.
However, I’m exited to do my first reread and to hopefully finish the series this time.
