The narrator keeps mis-pronouncing Paolo Freire's name and there's a funny bit when a student at school calls him 'Fieri', but then Maddie corrects them, but the narrator mispronounces the name lol.

i didn't know kern had a novel out! i read their novella "depart, depart!" last year and loved it. adding to the neverending list!

good to know though, i'll temper my expectations if i ever get around to it XD
