I have one thing in mind when I think about this book—self sustaining destruction.

Honestly the character I feel the most for is Hareton. The lad is seeking scraps of affection and only earns abuse.
I feel like there mustn’t be someone as lonely as him in the moors. No wonder he enjoys tending to the animals; they are his own kind.

Thank you Edgar you finally did one standing thing in your life—even if it was at your deathbed.

I just have no words about how much I want to finish this book and how much I never want to read it again.

Honestly asking—does Heathcliff have no life? How is he orchestrating LETTERS to the cousin of his son. This is so creepy, honestly I wanted to keep my tongue clean when discussing this book but he’s just showing himself to be a miserable lowlife.
I genuinely don’t understand what he’s getting out of such meddling? Does this man not feel exhausted by himself?

Heathcliff you poor, miserly bastard—it wasn’t enough for you to realise your abuse from your tormentor; but instead you choose to reenact the same triangulation between your own son and the one you made little more of a slave? For what? Vindication? Amusement?
His cruelty is exhausting now, it’s not interesting. I would ask him to grow up but this is beyond his comprehension.
Truly a miserable man.

For a minute I believed Catherine was feeling remorse for her ways as death was confirmed for her, but no—she was just as insufferable or even more at death’s door. It interests me that Heathcliff is aware of her wickedness and fault yet still calls her upon him.
She was unbearable and now I believe Heathcliff will become more in her stead.
How dismal.

Oh Heathcliff…As you rebuke your wife you married solely for the single minded purpose of tormenting her, all I could think of was how ironic it was for you to be calling her disgraceful, abject, and everything more—whilst being completely blind of how everything he accused her of perfectly maps on to himself.
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

I can see where the hate for Heathcliff comes from. Isabella doesn’t deserve this. The poor woman. To think she’ll suffer for what Catherine genuinely called upon herself.

The more I read this book, the more insufferable Catherine is becoming to me. The way she speaks about Edgar is so ungrateful, she married him for his wealth to supply her vices, yet she has the audacity to call him unwanted and unworthy and whatnot. And then has the audacity to deny any accountability for the drama and consequences SHE INSTIGATED.
I know she’s going to die and honestly I’m just waiting for it.
