I forgot Hercule Poirot novels were amongst the media Watney's crew left behind that helped keep him sane.

It occurs to me part of why I like Murderbot so much is its personality is a lot like Mark Watney's, only it doesn't feel compelled to explain as much in detail because it wasn't trained by NASA and rather its thoughts and activities were not discovered after its demise.
