“He had a vision of London, of the western world; he saw a thousand million slaves toiling and grovelling about the throne of money.” man’s talking about the rat race and it’s 1934

If Gordon lived today he’d be an incel, 100%. He’s got such an annoying victim mindset that will keep him prisoner of his own profecy. The book is SUPER interesting, showing gordon’s thoughts, context, backstory. i’m loving it. It touches on many modern themes, but in different context.
if you’re a young professional in london (hello friends!), you should read this. themes of money, work, social classes

i love reading of life in london in the 1930s. grey, grim, windy, but am finding it way nicer than 1984. it feels to me a book that hits any young professional in london that doesn’t love their job. gordon also has lots of problems tho. overall, really enjoying it
