I love the themes tying this collection together- grief, loss, insecurity, identity. Analyzing the darker and sadder part of the human condition through sports is such a unique idea and is incredibly effective through the stories that Thompson has chosen to tell.

This opening article on Michael Jordan is one of the best pieces of gonzo journalism that I’ve read. Genuinely just a fascinating character study.
