Luckily the lift isn’t running, so there’s no electricity running through the cables, and they’re safe to touch.

(Huh. I thought the cables were just ropes, essentially, and what ran the chair lifts was mechanical, with clamps holding each chair onto the cable and sets of wheels looping the cable along.)
