So confused on Catherine I think she is a victim but we're being told about her this way so we can see how other people see her

Like I don't know what evidence we have of her being evil it seems like she is a CSA survivor orphan being stalked and trafficked?????
She knitted an Afghan??? I don't think she did that as a plot point who would knit an Afghan as part of a manipulation scheme
She learned her tricks in the crib I think that means she's been abused her whole life not born evil 😭 we'll see I guess. Steinbeck is either more of a sexist or more of a realist we will see what happens
